Campo
San Felice 3689
Open: Monday - Saturday, 10:00 A.M. - 10:00 P.M.
Closed: Sunday
To get there: From Campo San Apostoli, walk down Strada Nova and cross
the first bridge to Campo San Felice. The bar will be on your left.
In a tiny campo right off Strada Nova is this
wonderful wine bar run by two lively young guys,
Francesco and Andrea, who really love what they do.
They offer a fine selection of wines by the bottle or
glass, all hand-picked and explained in detail, in
Italian, by Francesco. Andrea speaks more English and
can help you choose if you are unfamiliar with Italian
wines. Francesco is the man behind the food bar, and
it only takes one look at his work area to see what
care and love he puts into what he creates to go with
his wines. He makes a fantastic pasta e fagioli,
creative cheese plates incorporating local fruits,
honeys, and mostardi (fruit mustards), good
sandwiches, and a delicious, ever-changing variety of
tiny crostini; a tiny quail's egg on a tiny toast, ham
with mustard, or smoked fish are some of the offerings
you might try. You can sit inside and watch the flow
of Venetians who come to the bar for their hourly
ombra or espresso, or sit outside in good weather and
watch the street life of Strada Nova, one of the
busiest streets in town. La Cantina has a large
selection of French Champagnes in addition to the
ever-changing selection of Italian wines.
